Will Android Auto and Apple CarPlay Be Available in Audi Models?
When Will Audi Get Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
There has been a lot of talk recently about Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The highly anticipated vehicle information interfaces from Google and Apple, respectively, may finally be on their way to more vehicles in the near future. The question for us then, is when will Audi get Android Auto and Apple CarPlay?
On both the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay websites, Audi is listed as a manufacturer that will be carrying the interface systems in future vehicles. Moreover, Audi has mentioned that the two systems will become available at some point in the future. When this will happen is still somewhat unclear.
What we do know, however, is that the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay systems are expected to arrive with the new Q7, the 2016 Audi Q7. The 2016 Audi Q7 has not yet launched for us here, but it is expected to arrive in 2016, meaning it shouldn’t be long before we start to see these interfaces integrated into our Audi technology.
Having both interfaces available means that you don’t have to choose your phone or your new vehicle based on their compatibility with your car. Android operating phones will sync up with Android Auto once plugged in, while iPhone’s will be able to connect with the Apple CarPlay system.
Once they become available, the two interfaces will allow drivers to receive information from their phone in a format that is easier to understand and interact with. It also helps drivers keep their eyes on the road while still being able to interact with navigation or the outside world. One of the great features that will be available for both systems is the ability to use voice controls for a number of functions, including text messaging and phone calling.
So, when will Audi get Android Auto and Apple CarPlay? It seems safe to assume it won’t be too far into the future, but no official date is set. For now, be sure to check back to the Audi Royal Oak blog for future updates and more Audi news.
