Differences Between Audi A3 and A4

Although all of the models in the Audi lineup offers something unique, two vehicles that are most often compared to one another are the A3 and the A4, as they are similar not only in price, but in capability. This can make it difficult to determine which of the vehicles is best for you, but to make the research process somewhat easier, we’ve decided to take a closer look at the differences between the Audi A3 and A4.

One of the biggest differences between the two vehicles is price, and seeing as the cost is often the most crucial factor in the decision-making process, we thought it would be helpful to start there. The Audi A3 comes at a price just below $30,000, making it one of the most affordable Audi vehicles in the lineup. The A4 cost is not much more, but if you want to keep it under the $30,000 mark, the A3 is the one for you.

In the automotive world, you typically get what you pay for, and so there are a number of reasons that the price of the A4 is slightly higher. For one, it offers up a slightly larger size, but two, the engine that comes standard beneath the hood of the Audi A4 is more capable than the one found in the nose of the A3.

A 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine is standard equipment in the A3, and although the engine of the A4 also takes on four cylinders, it displaces two-tenths more than the standard engine of the A3. The 2.0-liter engine is able to produce as much as 220 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, which gives it more than enough power to provide you with the driving experience that you expect to find in an Audi product.

If you prefer the Audi A3, but want the power of the Audi A4, you’ll be sure to appreciate that for a slightly higher price, you can get the same 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine of the A4 shoehorned into the A3. This allows you to take advantage of the same power outputs as the A4. If neither of the engine options suit your needs, you can opt for the diesel-burning variety of the 2.0-liter engine offered in the Audi A3.

As you can see, there are quite a few differences between the Audi A3 and the A4, but differences aside, both of the vehicles are impressive. It all comes down to the capabilities that you want and the price that you need. If you really want to discover the differences between the vehicles, we encourage you to get in touch with us here at Audi Royal Oak.
